Our son will be sailing his Albin Vega from Bimini over to Florida and
we were looking for an inexpensive dry dock in the Fort Lauderdale
area. We see that to get to some of the marinas up river you need to
pass under a couple bridges. What is the lowest bridge he can pass
under? What is his mast height? Any ideas on dry storage for a few
months.

Greetings from Stuart, FL. While you may find a facility in the Ft/ L area, your son may also consider heading north about 50 miles..St. Lucie Inlet. In the area -- inland-- there is a good dry storage at the Indian Town Marina. lots of sailboats on the hard..no bridges.

Any further questions --e-mail or call 772-215-8087

I have passed under a bridge with a nominal 38 foot clearance with
room (feet) to spare.

Before I tried, I ran a rope up my mast hooked to the main halyard
and dangled the other end in the water. I then brought down the line
and measured from the wet/dry transition spot to the "halyard end" of
the line. I guesstimated the additional height due to my radio
antenna.

Hope this helps,

Hello: If I have 37 feet clear, I'll go under the bridge. The mast is
approximately 30 feet long, add 3 feet for masthead equipment, and the mast steps
about 3.5 feet off the water. I've twitched the antenna a couple of times!
