Height of boom on Catalina 27 tall rig?

I am considering a catalina 27 as my next boat. Could someone please tell me the height of the boom above the cockpit sole on the Catalina 27 tall-rig. I am 6' tall & do not want to worry about my head getting smacked by the boom. Also, is there 6' of clearance on a tall-rig with a bimini? Thanks for your help.Marc

Boom Height

Not all C27's are alike. Floating goosenecks allow the boom to be higher than a fixed, especially if the sail luff is a little short. I have a fixed gooseneck (tall rig) and can stand under the boom (I am 5-11 in altitude), but cannot stand under the bimini. The gooseneck could be raised, but would require drilling and tapping new holes and cutting a new sail slide feeder cutout up higher on the mast.

For what it is worth

I have a standard rig 27 vintage 1976. I, like Don, am 5'11" and the boom just clears my head. It is close enough that I still duck when tacking. Good Luck in your search...
