Heavy Mast

I used to have a 1976 catalina 22 back in the early 80s. I don't remember having a problem raising the mast. Now I have a 1986model and have to strain to raise the mast. I know I'm older nowbut not that old. Has the weight of the mast changed when it wentfrom external to internal halards, has the mast height changed,or has my memory just failed me after 15 years?

You were much stronger back then . . .

. . . just kidding. The only difference in the mast has been to go with a more durable mast (probably a bit heavier). You can tell the difference in the cross section; the older style is oval and the newer style is oblong. Earlier models had a few problems with mast failure, so they beefed-up the mast.Regards,Ted
