Heater Hoses

Because you guys know everything- my engine was removed from the boat for some needed repairs- while the engine bay is empty I am taking the opportunity to clean up and repace some items in our 23 year old boat- I just installed new engine mounts and am now replacing hoses. I want to replace the hose which runs from the engine to the hot water heater. The run is not long but it goes under the cabin sole and I am a bit nervous about not being able to pull the new hose through. I wanted to connect the new hose to old hose and pull through any suggestions on best way to connect both to each other ?

zip ties work good - just be sure the block is not on the "outside" where it can catch -- just cut two small slits .25" from the end of each hose

join the two hoses with a piece steel pipe nippnthe right diameter and hose clamps.

I know everyone is waiting for the rest of my hose adventure. After studying Stu's experience, I bought trident 250 heater hose online (here actually), which was very price competitive. I then drilled holes in the end of the hose and used electrical ties to join the hoses together- greased up the hoses with dish washing soap and was able to pull both through successfully. Hopefully good for another 20 years

Nice work, glad to help. You'll sleep a LOT better knowing that your engine coolant won't drain out and force ya to buy a new engine!

If only we could get everyone with a good old boat to do these kind of things.
