It has been a very long time since I posted on the forum.
This summer I lost my most recent crew due to serious heart issues. We have done the launch and haulout together for many years and this year he was not able to be there to help. In spite of this, the haulout went well, but because I was sandwiched between power boaters at the launch and it was late in the day, I was not able to do the winterizing. So... here is the issue. In past years we would get back down to the boat to winterize, but this year the weather went "north" here as it has done throughout the country. Yesterday I got down to the boat during the day (50+ degrees, almost balmy) and prepped the boat for winter. On board water system went well. I had drained the water tank and there were no burst water lines. After I had set up the bucket to winterize the sea water system, I noticed the level in the bucket lowering and I had not started the engine to pump it through. I checked the bilge and saw pink there. Uh Oh. I opened the rear access to the engine and saw pink draining from the heat exchanger. The end cap on the left end had been pushed out by the ice inside. I tried to tap it back into place, but it still leaked. I was able to start the engine and pump the antifreeze through the seawater system and muffler, and then removed the heat exchanger.
Thanks for your patience... The Heat Exchanger needs to be repaired. I need some guidance. Can a radiator repair shop repair this? If not, where do I go or need to send it to get it done.
Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving,
Tom
