Hello to all, I tried to replace th pencil zinc on my 89 Cat 30. I removed the screw on the bottom and found nothing. Looks like the old zinc corroded so bad that the new one can"t be screwed in. I have a 3 inch heat exchanger on my M25XP. Where can I locate this part? Also, are there any other zinc that need to be checked? Thanks, Russ

This should help

maybe you can take the old heat exchanger apart and clean it.

Get The Shop Vac

Russ, The zinc has broken off from the brass bolt/head. You'll need to remove the heat exchanger end cap nearest to the zinc. Take you shop vac and put the hose against the heat exchanger. It will remove the old zinc remnants and you should then be able to insert the new zinc. Good Luck, Dave

I did mine yesterday

I believe thats it for the M25XP, just one. I replaced mine yesterday, there wasnt much left of the old one. Not sure what the water conditions are where you are but here in Puget Sound were advised to check them every 3 months. Of course you have a couple under the boat too, dont forget those. -ciao
