We purchased a Hunter 33 last year and the fan on the Polar Air heat/ac unit runs continuously even when the compressor is off. Somebody told me that there was a programming option that could alter this behavior and after searching through the manual nothing in the "user" settings was applicable. So, being fearless and unafraid of technology I started looking at the factory (we don't recommend changing these) settings. I discovered option P-14. This option controls whether the fan operates continuously or cycles. Yea!

Why would you want the fan to cycle?

Air circulation will help to maintain the "feels like" temperature you are trying to achieve. Also at night the undisturbed hum of the fan may help you stay asleep. Electric motors like fan motors experience more wear and tear upon start-up than from continuous running. Power consumption of just the fan is nill. I was just wondering if you see any advantage to having it cycle. Apparently the manufacturer does not even include the option in the owners manual.
