Furling Headsail Size Folks,When I unpacked my new H260, the headsail was a hanked-on type and I have the CDI FF2 roller furler. Hunter says 5 weeks to get one. I'm thinking of moving to a larger sail since I have the opportunity.What is the largest sail (in %) that you recommend for the FF2 on a H260? What deck hardware for the sheets is required to make it work?Have any of you installed tracks for the jibsheets?David HochS/V Abundance

My guess is that the stock Hunter headsail, which is about 110%, is designed for optimum performance for this size boat. I've found it drives the boat well at all points of sail. This boat does not have fairleads, backstay adjustment and a traveler like some other boats; except for the most anal racer, this hardware is unnecessary. Jim Seamans probably has some good advice in this area. I'd spend a season or two with the boat before trying to tweak it.

The 260 is not designed or set up to take a larger Genoa. Because of the Shroud placement at the shear, the sheeting angle is too wide. A larger sail could not be sheeted in close enough to effectively go up wind.If you can't wait 5 weeks, contact a local sailmaker, they can convert that sail to a Roller Furling sail, with luff tape and UV Cover, in much less time, for probably $300. or less.
