I can feel the heat just looking at the pictures. Maybe it's 'cause we're sitting here freezing.

That looks like a great time. Have you ever thought of hosting a cruise with other boats?

Hi LakeShark ! Yes I have, many times. I live in North San Diego and am part of a group of trailer sailors that meet a few times a year to get together. Over the years I have tried many times to get people excited about doing sailing adventures but they are pretty stuck in "Their" thing. I don't mind meeting up with them but I always make it into a much larger adventure.

Could someone point me towards a resource for understanding the logistics of this? I’ve toyed with the idea of escaping Wyoming winter, but I’ve never left the US so I’d appreciate learning what we need in terms of permits, insurance, etc to trailer a vessel down and spend a week or two sailing Baja.

Wyo George Hi,
Pretty simple really. you will need all your documents. Passports,Drivers license, Car registration, Copy of title for boat , trailer, outboard receipt . Insurance ,US & Mexico.
When you cross the border you'll go into a special area to get a TIP Temporary Import Permit which is good for 5 years. Give them your paperwork, once their done walk over to the cashier and pay, then back to the original place and they stamp everything and your good to go. For my areas it's all right next to each other.
Make multiple sets / copies of all your US Doc's. This way when you go into any marina or are asked for them you already have a set to give them. It makes it faster and I feel it is a small curtesy to them.
So Far we have gone to Bay of Los Angeles and Puerto Escondido (Loreto) . PE is very nice with mast up storage for $200.00 per month and very safe. B of LA is great. You set up ,Launch and store your boat right in the same area. The is a nice family with a store and little casitas to rent where you can leave your rig.
Go and have fun. Drive slow and take your time

Hi Watercolors !
Must be pretty fricking cold right now?
That sounds like a very dramatic place to live!
Maybe 35 years ago I almost bought a building near the water in Long Island City for almost nothing. I think it has a giant high-rise there now.
Being in Marina Del Rey in a great starting point for all of the Channel Islands in Southern California.
Baja with a 22 is truly amazing.
