I have a 1975 Legend 37.5. I want to replace what think is the original haylard for the mainsail. The shackle hjas a starage curved shape, and I wonder if I order a new halyard with a U shaped fitting if it will be a problem? I would also like advice from others if they have replaced haylards on the same boat as to what line they ordered and if they are happy with their choice. I do not race anymore... I am a crusier.

You probably meant a 1995 37.5 because they were not made in 1975. I would strongly recommend a 3/8" spectra cored halyard for good results. Dacron double braid line is much too stretchy to be of any use as a halyard, although many folks use it. Use a long eye splice to install the shackle that way it can be removed whenever you need to double end the line without having to cut the line to do it.

Thanks to all for the info. It was exactly what I needed.
Yes the 1975 was a typo, the year is 1995
