I have a 1997 Oceanis 321 and am trying to figure some way to improve ventilation for the Head, particuarly when the boat is closed up and not in use during the week. I have considered installing a venilation fan in the coach top roof. Has anyone else taken on such a project. What pitfalls should I be aware of? Are there any other options to improve head ventilation?

Ventillation

I installed a solar/battery fan/vent system 4" diameter on a catalina 380. works fine, installation was just fine. needed to rent a hole saw of the diameter based on volume flow rates. u may need only 3" diameter unit. the best part it is a stand alone unit requiring no boat power.

Water in the Bowl

Here is a basic bit of info from my first year with a boat. When leaving the boat for some time...leave some water in the toilet bowl. The objective is to block the "shit" smell from the holding tank getting into the head. The water acts as a vapor lock, just like the "U" in household plumbing. Simple, no charge, and it really does the trick. Paul B
