head vent location?

The head on my Mac 26 needs a little ventilation. I am wondering if a 3" hole beside the stay might weaken the deck too much. Has anybody successfully installed a solar vent or similar?

Head Hatch

I have a '91 26S. Previous owner installed a small (5"-6") hatch in the head with a skylight. Hasn't seemed to cause any harm.

I purcchased a 99 26X about 6 weeks ago. The previous owner installed a passive air vent directly into the head window by drilling about a 3 inch hole. I wont be able to use the boat until next Spring, so I can't comment on how well it works, but the guy who owned the boat said it worked great. This also keeps the vent away from the top of the deck where it might be in the way.
