I just purchased a 85 31 and am looking for a picture of the door to the head. Mine doesnt currently have one and I would like to replace it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Seth
Wow, what a coincidence. I just removed all the doors (3) on the boat except the head.
At my wife's suggestion, she thought it would make the interior look more roomy and it really did. Saved weight and made the boat feel better, a win win in my book.
Photos of my 1987 Hunter 31 head door closing access to the v-berth. Feel free to contact me at sjpenny5@gmail.com for additional photos and measurements.
Stephen. So that is how the door is supposed to work. I am the third owner of a 87 Hunter 31, and the door doesn't even lay next to the bulkhead wall. Or even have a hole for the lock to set in when it is supposed to be closed. The crew that put my interior together must have had a long night out before the next work day. Several things that aren't right in our boat. But live with them. Thanks for picture.
You can replace the door to make a custom fit. If I did that I would make it taller. You can also add a latch to close it off to the v-berth. I have other pictures and dimensions if anyone needs them.
There is a chance that your compression post was replaced. When they did that they may not have replaced the stop & hardware for the door latch. The normal position for this door is to have the door closing the head compartment. The door then swings open to close off the v-berth for privacy.
