Question #2 How much trouble is mounting a "tiller tamer" on my metal tiller?

Mark,
If you attach a downhaul to the head of the jib, run it down to the tack and then back to the cockpit, that should take care of it. Pull the downhaul and one of the sheets snug to keep the jib on the deck.

A very simple tiller tamer is a long line attached to the tiller in the middle with a clove hitch. Since there are no alterations to the tiller it doesn't matter what its made of. I've often used the bitter ends of either the main or windward jib sheet to tame the tiller on the fly.
