just rec'd my new 216, first new boat, also, first boat that has a rolling furler head sail. this head sail doesn't have the typical blue fabric on the leech. i've assumed that was a built in protection. do i need to bag the head sail when rolled up between sails? thanks doug

You might have UV protection. Look on the sail for the sail logo. It should say something about UV treatment. Look closely on the leech for a strip of slightly darker material about 12" wide on the leech. It's sometimes hard to see. If you stand back and let the sun shine through the sail you should be able to see the UV strip. Otherwise you should provide some UV protection inbetween sails.

You should use some sort of

protection. either a sacrifical strip sewn to the leech or you can make a sock for the jib with zippers and haul it up with a halyard in between sails.

Sunbrella

Take jib off and to any sail loft. Have a 7 inch wide x X feet long piece of Sunbrella material sewn to the trailing edge. When furled, this portects the sail
