Check Wind Speed

Ken, Headsails are changed as a function of wind speed. For most fractional rigs, the headsail is used to set the slot for the mainsail. For most sailors the 150 HS is used in very light winds. Say 2 ot 8 knots. The 150 is for use from 8 to 15 knots and the 110 at winds over 15 kts. As to faster sailing downwind, the 150 will, in a wing on wing setup, provide much more sail area regardless of the wind speed. I have seen in races a Hunter skipper change from a 110 on a point to a 150 for the run just so he could get more canvas on the wing. Hope this helps. Bob Dean
