I had a Hood furler on my
H28.5, and replaced it with a Furlex 200. I like the Furlex a lot, but it was pricey. I think the same model would work on your boat. Practical Sailor gave a solid thumbs up to most of the name brand furlers, so a lot would seem to depend on installation and service after the sale. You may be able to use your current 130 if it'll fit to the new height of the drum, a distance somewhat shorter than your current system. I have two headsails on my boat; one fit the new furler and the other, which had a luff length about 6 inches longer, had to be shortened by a sailmaker. The decision to have an old sail modified or not sort of depends on how many more years you expect to be able to get out of the sail, and what specific modifications may be necessary and how much that costs. In my case, the sailmaker was able to shorten the luff by moving the cringles inward on the head and tack of the sail, a very inexpensive modification. If there is a need to rebuild two corners of a sail, and/or modify its UV cover, it may not be worth it.
