This is my first year of owership for this 1992 Hunter 28. I just took the sails to be clean and my sail maker told me the the tape of the head sails had a few rips in it. He said it looks like there is a blur on the furler ripping the tape when it is raised. Has anyone had this happen to them? Do you think the blur was caused by corrosion? Can I repair it or do have to replace it?

Check the furler for a burr or any thing that might chafe the webbing. Go up the rig in a bosun chair if you have to, or use binnoculars from the dock to see whats going on. Ask your sail maker to repair the sail, if he says he can't, then find another sail loft.
