I'm looking to move up from the Mariner I now sail into something the wife and I can spend nights on but not so big that its hard to handle. I'm looking at the South Coast 22 and a guy I know comes up with a Venture 22 for sale but I will not be able to see it till spring. Can some tell me can you sit at the table and not hit your head without the pop top up? Just how much head room is there on a Venture 22? Everthing else I hear about the boat sounds good it's not to heavy only 500 lbs more then my Mariner its beachable looks like it has enough storege space....

Sitting headroom

The V-22 has what is called 'sitting headroom', which means if you are average height you can sit in the saloon without ducking. (Don't have an axact measurement right now.) My model came with a carpeted ceiling although there are minor obstacles like the ends of the poptop supports. Scrambling around each other in the saloon is generally described as a 'camping' experience, especially when there is extra gear. Storage space is minimal. Visiting the head is a challenge for some, but I think the boat is a gem of careful compromises for its size. Condition of the swingkeel is a critical factor.
