head pumps overboard with Y valve in proper position. 1-holding tank is empty.2-removed Y valve to ascertain it is operational.3-removed all lines to assure they are not clogged.UGH! 4-upon leaving manual pump lever in 'dry' position[jabasco]thebowl fills back up with the amount of water that is held in the line from thejoker valve to the top ie overfill, of the holding tank.Any suggestions or thoughts are appreciated. exasperated.

Say wha...??? :)

If the toilet flushes overboard when the y-valve is aimed at the tank, the handle isn't aiming it toward the tank. It's either not changing the direction or it's on backward. However, there shouldn't be a y-valve on your boat..'cuz you're at least 500 miles from the nearest waters in which it's legal to flush a toilet directly overboard or dump a tank. So the simplest solution to that problem: remove it. If the bowl is filling with clean water, it's coming in via the intake...which means the wet/dry valve has failed...it's not blocking off the flow of sea water. Nor is there a vented loop in the intake to keep it out of the bowl. See the installation instructions for your toilet here: http://www.jabsco.com/prodInfo/overview/43000_0745_02_04.pdf If what's filling the bowl is in fact running back downhill from the tank, it means two things: 1. you aren't flushing long enough in the "dry" mode to move the bowl contents all the way to the tank. 2. The joker valve in the toilet discharge is worn out. And what exactly do you mean by the "overfill" on the tank??? Holding tanks don't have an "overfill" ...only inlet, discharge and vent--which should NEVER be used as an overflow. That will result in a blocked vent, which will cause you problems you don't even want to think about. In fact, if you feel increaing backpressure when you pump your toilet, it's likley due to a vent blockage that's pressurized your tank...and can prevent waste from getting to the tank. making progress

Peggy; Thanks for the info and thoughts on my "head" problem. I ordered your book since you understand the problem and have logically diagnosed the possible sequence of "events", all bad. Hopfully, your book will lead me to the end of my problem! ps; I think ol' cap'n Dave's been smoking that stuff too long.
