Peggy I remember seeing on a previous post that you reccomended not to use baby oil as a lubricant as it encouraged anaerobic bacteria. Just useing the oil prior to a pump out I don't think would be enough for us. What do yuo suggest as a better lubricant. 2-3 squirts of the baby oil frees up a stiff pump very quickly and nicely. Liquid Lubes!

Tony: Baby oil is a mineral oil. This is basically what you pay a premium for when it is called Head Lube. Peggie does not recommend Vegatable Oil (just coats your tank and turns rancid. Oils also float to the top of the waste tank and discourage the break down of waste. If you are going to use a liquid lube, you should use this immediately before you pump out the tank. This way the seal gets lubed and you pump the stuff out of the tank. As you know this works but not for long. What she recommends is Sealand Head Lube. You need to remove the pump and lube the pump.

If you want to do it right...

And only do it once every season or two instead of once a week, take the pump apart and slather it with SeaLube or SuperLube (neither are made by SeaLand, btw). That's what head mfrs use.
