Head pump friction

Hi Peggie, The piston of the head pump develops a lot of friction (old problem) and is freed up immediately by either lubing it with teflon grease or flushing a squirt of baby oil down, but neither lasts long. Does it harm the aerobic biology of the tank to use baby oil, which floats on the surface, and is possibly never completely pumped out? Also, I'd like to replace the compact head with something more like a household bowl, but there is no more room to expand behind the current head. Are there any that have the mount/drain hole off center, and which are larger only in the forward direction? Thanks. BTW the link to purchase your new book loads only a blank page. Regards. George

If the teflon grease washes out that fast...

You're not using enough, or you're trying to use it by flushing it instead of opening up the pump. 'Cuz a healthy squirt--a couple of tablespoons--of thick teflon grease applied by opening up the pump should last at least a season. This link to my book works...I just tried it: http://shop.sailboatowners.com/books/detail-books.htm?fno=400&sku=35630&cat=1304
