I have a Hunter 27 manufactured in 1993. It's a great boat, but the past two years I've had a problem that when we heal the boat to port it takes on water in the head and if not regularly monitored will over flow. It's a nasty mess.

I've replaced the pump and wet/dry seal in the pump, but the problem persists. I do not have a detailed owner's manual for her and am not sure how the plumbing is actually set up. Is there a good manual I can get for this boat?

Thanks for the help.

Is it a Jabsco? Most head units the plumbing is the same principle. Could be your unit is not plumbed correctly. See the diagrams in pdf. Plus what condition is the choker valve?

Roger, have you tried to close the seawater inlet valve or the overboard discharge valve to see which one stops the problem? If the seawater valve stops the problem, then the pump valves on the head need to be carefully cleaned and seated... or replaced. If the discharge valve stops the problem, then you have a vented loop that is not high enough or the vent is plugged or some of both. If neither one stops it, you have a bad joker valve and or a plugged tank vent.. good luck !

onecoolair and kloudie,

Thanks for the great thoughts. I'll check those ideas out when the boat launches in a couple of weeks. The simple fix I had thought I had done earlier certainly isn't the extent of the possibilities. I appreciate input.

"It's a Jabsco".

Maybe you have answered your own question.

1. Try installing a NEW joker valve (call Jabsco and see if they will sell/give you just that part).

2. If the above posts do not help you may consider changing the toilet to something like a Raritan PH unit.
