For the last two weekends, the first time we flush the head we are greeted with a terrible odor. At no other time during the weekend does this happen and it never occurred last year. It is a 2012 Hunter 33 and we are the original owners. We have used recommended deodorizers. Any idea what the problem might be? Thanks.

Stu's post is to the point.. The water in the hose going to the head pump has a bunch of tiny dead critters in it from being stagnant for some days. When ya first pump it, that stinky water gets aerated into the bowl and everything gets really fragrant until that water clears out. usually 2-4 pumps.
I can echo this as it just happened to me. I have an in line filter to protect the toilet from receiving debris and some black colored flaky stuff was caught in the screen. Washing it out stopped the smell in its tracks, so there is some crud in your line on the inbound side, almost for sure.
Critters in the sea water. Not much you can do except use fresh water to flush raw water intake after each weekend.
Most likely, this will always be the case, especially in warm weather when "critters" (bacteria) can multiply in the unused (while you are away) intake hose and produce that nasty sulphur odor that you are smelling. I don't notice it as bad in winter months when cabin and water temps are cooler. Still happens, just takes a little longer for the bacteria to grow and produce odor.
It's no problem if the odor is coming from the intake side. Different story if its coming from outflow side.
