What you need is...
the exploded diagram of your toilet. That requires knowing the make/model (and sometimes the age). Then you can get it--and maybe even what passes for an owners manual--from the mfr, sometimes off their website. I think the instructions about hose connections and valve movements will become a LOT clearer to you if you print them out and spend some time comparing what you're reading to what you're looking at on your own boat. The only things that need lubing are the toilet, and any y-valves and seacocks in the system. If you don't know what a y-valve or a vented loop looks like, there are photos of 'em in marine catalogs. There are also system diagrams in the West Marine and BOAT/US catalogs, but in my experience "one size fits all" diagrams never seem to fit anyone's size, much less everyone's..there's only one way to know what's on your boat, how it works, and how it's installed: explore it That advice doesn't only apply to the sanitation system, btw...an emergency is NOT the time to START hunting for seacocks, valves, or which breaker turns off a smoking water pump.
