I recently bought a 1986 30 T and love it. What a great vessel! However, in my search for the right Siedelmann, I noticed that every single one (only looked at 30T's) had the interior lining coming down or completely off. I bought one one with the least sagging, (not for that reason). I've noticed too that each has made some sort of attempt to fix it, (re-glue), with minimal sucess. Does anyone have any ideas on how to rectify/repair this situation?

Yes the headliner is a common problem. I also have a 1986 30T. I completly removed the headliner and underlying plywood. This is a big job. I didn't remove the liner which goes down the sides of the cabin, I found it could be reglued. After removing the liner I cleaned the ceiling as best I could and then painted it with a good quality exterior house paint flat white. It looks okay for now I will eventually glue on a fabric cover.

Hi, I have a 37. The stock stuff on mine was removed, and replaced with a Geometric finish hull liner, available via boaters world, or Boat US ( via special order) It is a thick material, with no foam to deteriorate. and is made for marine use, and mildew resistant, scotchguard treated. I have used it to replace all of the hull liner, and it looks good. They sell a special headliner adhesive, although I used standard contact cement from Home depot, in one gallon cans, you use a lot of it. If it starts to fall down, you can just reglue it, but if you use enough glue it will stay up. However the fumes from the cement are strong!!! My boat has occasional teak strips on the ceiling to help hold it up also. Good luck. Dave Moondance Seidelmann 37

Hedliner Replacement
We replaced the headliner and certain portions of the hull liner with beadboard painted high gloss white. The contrast with the teak battens is very striking. We used liquid nails to secure the beadboad and constructed 2x4 braces to hold it up until the liquid nails kicked. Best wishes, Pat & Reid
