I put a blue dye in my head to see of the smell in the bildge was from the head. It was. I have replaced the head. I have traced the main pipe from the head to the tank. No leak. The water comes from the very lower part of the boat. There is a small hole next to the bildge pump where the water gets into the bildge. Any ideas? Thanks!

I'm unclear about the "very small hole"....

The hole is in WHAT next to the bilge pump? If the head were leaking, it would have been obvious IN the head. But it wasn't. So if you couldn't find any source of leak from the toilet, why did you replace it?

Holding Tank Leak?

Is your holding tank weeping out the bottom and the discharge finding its way to the bilge via the limber holes in the hull liner? RD

Just replaced my hoses

I just replaced the in and out hose for the holding tank on my 1993 30T. Ugly difficult job! Many owners will say that the aluminium tanks we use will rot due to uric acid ... especially on boats our age. I suggest that yours is a victum of this problem. When the tank leaks it dribbles it's contents into the area below the batteries, along the hoses, and then it proceeds to the bilge through those "tiny" holes. Open the quarter berth covers (above the ball valves for head and engine and overboard pump out) and see it this is not the case. Lift out the batteries, remove the access playe and take a look. If this is so, your tank is leaking ... then check with Ray Mosteller as he has a detailed answer on hoe to change out our holding tanks. Pictures and all! (Thank you, Ray) You can raech him through the HOW Owner finder. As an aside, if I had followed Ray's advice about a new access panel, replaceing the hose's would have been much easier. Since I did not need to replace my tank, I chose to wait until fall. Now that I have been down that hole, I can see the wisdom of his plan. "It's all part of the adventure", I always say.
