Head?
I just bought a 1988 C-22, and it is equipped with a factory installed, I think) head in the same place as the porta potty. The tank is under the forward dinette seat. The through hull (there is a Y valve) is pretty close to the head unit and not quite on the centerline. I haven't used it yet. The pump out is in the bottom of the anchor locker, so will be somewhat inconvenient to empty the tank, as will have to remove the anchor and rode. I would consider putting it on the gunwale if I was going from scratch. I am also getting interested in installing a mascerator pump, but need to do a little more research. Anyone have input here?Of course all the same cautions apply to thru-hulls (double clamps, careful installation with appropriate sealants and consider buying the best quality. New plastics with valves seem to be the preferable material and configuration, bronze having apparently lost its pre-eminence). Shut-off valves on thru-hulls are important if you're mooring, according to all the articles.
