How does one access the backside of the fiberglass to remove or tighen the nuts when mounting the base of a head into the boat? Unfortunately for me, I have to replace the whole thing, but don't understand how I will be able to retighten the mounting bolts if Catalina installed the head at the factory, then placed the fiberglass mounting in the boat.

Tim, check the fasteners

They are most likely LAG BOLTS that screw into the fiberglass and do NOT have nuts on the other ends. Take one out, you'll see. If the holes have gotten too big, just fill them with epoxy and redrill.
