I'M A NEW OWNER OF A 93 30FT HUNTER, WITH AN AWFUL LOT TO LEARN. 1- IS THERE A WAY TO TELL WHAT LEVEL THE WASTE STORAGE TANK IS AT...OTHER THAN BY ODOR?? 2- THE BOAT CAME WITH A HEART FREEDOM 10 INVERTER/CHARGER. i CAN ONLY GET POWER INTO THE INVERTER UNIT BUT WHEN I CHECK THE OUTGOING VOLTAGE IT'S ZERO. ONCE IN A WHILE WHEN I RECET THE BREAKERS I GET AC POWER INTO THE BOAT FOR A SHOT TIME AND THEN IT TRIPS OUT AGAIN. CAN ANYONE GIVE ME HELP WITH THIS?? REGARDS, JOHN

Tank capacity

There are several ways to determine how much is in the tank: 1. shine a light on it (only works if the tank is plastic and a vertical tank wall is accessible)... 2. on average, each person continuously aboard will put approx 3 gals/day into the tank, so divide the tank capacity by 3 gal/person to estimate how many days it takes to fill up the tank... 3. install a gauge. In fact, although few people know it because enforcement is lax, CG regs actually require a gauge in all holding tanks that are not readily accessible for visual inspection. The best "bang for the buck" is the Snake River Electronics AcuGage...not only does it give a true 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, full reading in any size tank for less than half the price of any other gauge that does more that let you know when the tank is just about full, but the tank contents never come in contact with the sender, so it can never clog up. The online chandlery here has it for a VERY good price. I just checked...the single tank "mini" doesn't show up in a search...ask for a quote.

Snake River

John, I have been using the Snake River gauges for years. I have a extra panel unit that I will make you a good deal on. It is extra because when I changed tank sizes, I whent to the ultra eight panel unit. Let me know if you are interested. You would have to buy a sending unit from Snake River only. They are good gauges. Matter of fact, this panel unit is set for holding and water tank both.

SNAKE RIVER

I'LL CHECK WITH SNAKE RIVER ON AVAILABILITY OF PART REQUIRED AND INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS. I HAVE SEVERAL PROBLEMS GOING ON WITH THE BOAT RIGHT NOW AND NEED TO WORK THEM BY PRIORITY. THANKS FOR THE OFFER....ANY IDEA WHAT YOU WOULD WANT FOR THE GAGE IF I CAN GET REMAINDER FROM SNAKE RIVER??? REGARDS, JOHN

re inverter

Suggest you look for a short in your load. Also, you can unhook the ouput from the inverter and see what voltage you have. If the Inverter is ok it will not trip out. I found that my inverter was wired directly to the port outlets only (AC) and charging circuit for batteries. good luck

SHOUTING

Who invented the idea that cap lock on or capital letters used in an E-Mail is the equivalent of SHOUTING. E-Mails were only invented recently so why do we slavishly follow this trend. Regards, GERRY

Internet etiquette guidelines are old

$.02 Long before email and the network as we know it, was the backbone research nets. Based on dialup lines and operated at 1200, 9600 baud. A very slow way to communicate. Etiquette guidelines followed that allowed people to express emotion without getting into fights. I probably still have it somewhere or can be found doing a network search. One of these was that all uppercase was shouting to make a point. Where do you think all of the ;-) :) came from? Cut some slack for someone who wasn't aware or just discovered the NET. And email is very old 30years! Jim Older than I want to admit to. Used to program on punch cards!!

Too much Guinness

Yeah, I know,I spent more years than I would like to admit too installing and testing Voice Frequency Telegraph but I don't remember the Caps.thing. Maybe I'm just getting older or it could be from swallowing 50,000 pints of Guinness. Regards, Gerry

Inverter / Good advice

This sounds like the easiest way to isolate the problem. I'll try it over the weekend. One thing that does happen is as follows: With ac power to the boat, when I turn on the ac breaker the breaker light comes on..but very dim. However, when I flip on the outlet breaker ..both the as main and the outlet breaker glow bright.
