I saw one of these (HC50) two year ago at Annapolis. But I can't recall in my surfing of the web if I have actually found anyone who has bought one of these. I'm not talking a charter or a broker, but a normal owner. I personally think they should scrap the HC50 concept and bring back the Hunter 54 with the rudder in the rear this time.

I think so

I was in Newport, RI a few weeks ago and spotted one on a mooring next to us. Didn't see anybody on it for two days, but I took this sunset picture of it. On the stern it said "Hunter's Child" and also had Florida registration. The hull number "5" may have been from the Marion to Bermuda yacht race held in June. I think there was a HC50 in that race.

One called Breaking Wind

My local dealer has sold at least one. If you go to: http://www.iwonderinc.com/LaVida/HC50Page/index.html It is thier HC50 page and they have a link to other virtual tours and that is where I found the one about breaking wind which is a white hull boat. Regards. Bruce. Neon Moon

hc50 in Miami Beach

I looked over one at Florida Yacht Sales in Miami Beach last week. An amazing yacht.....gimballed nav table; water ballast etc etc...built for fast racing/cruising. I understand though there may only be about 3 around. It must have been a very expensive yacht to build and not really suitable to take advantage of Hunter's production facility. Maybe sometime they'll produce a price competitive 50ft cruiser/racer but not sure its their primary target market/product. Hunter's Child was raced around the world (I think the Vendee Globe) by Warren Luhrs.

Hunter's Child?

Hunters Child was the name of the boat that Steve Pettengill sailed in the BOC single-handed race around the world. I beleive that it was a 60 footer (Class 1, #64). Thursday's Child was raced by Warren Luhrs a few years before that (Class 2, 50 footer). The HC50 "Hunter's Child" that I saw was renamed probably for recognizability wherever it goes. I think this one was in the Marion-Bermuda race in June and sailed by Pettingill. When I was in Newport last week, it was gone. I was suspecting that it, too, would be in the Newport Boat Show in September. BTW, I was reading the boat show guide yesterday and Brad Van Liew's Tommy Hilfiger American Freedom will be in the show. Although, it has been repainted and responsored by Beefeater. It will be sailed to most of the major shows this fall/winter.

Fast Re-org is her name. BTW, I went sailing on one. Amazing boat performance. Makes other fast cruisers look obsolete. Rick D.
