I would like to get a transducer installed on my "new to us " hunter 23.5. and I have been eyeing the Hawkeye D10D, it looks simple and easy to install, I really don't need any of those sophisticated, complicated electronics.

Is it worth getting one those Hawkeye? And getting the thru hull transducer.

I like mine, but went with the "shoot-through-hull" option.

Works great.

I totally agree.... I have one as my backup unit that I have installed at the chart table. its a nice, simple, dependable and affordable unit. I dont see how it could have any negatives that would prevent one from buying it, other than personal preference...

I have one on my Mac25. Works great and was a simple installation. It is important to make sure the transducer is seated properly to the hull or it wont work.

The key to shooting through the hull is finding a spot with no air bubbles in the hull. Also when attaching the instructions usually tell you to use epoxy, Myself and many others at my mariner have used silicone instead with great results, as you can peel it off if you don't get a good signal and start over. Epoxy is not forgiving.

I have one on my 23.5 works just fine using the transom mount puck shooting through the hull.
