Would be a very nice trip. Keeping in mind a couple of facts. Time of year, and the sometimes gigantic swells in the pacific. Not to mention the boat at this point being a total unknown. Not much info. there.

Gigantic swells in the Pacific?
We came home from Hawaii several years ago (approx Aug 1) and it was more like a pond than an ocean. We had one day with18-20 ft swells but it was a very easy trip. This is not to mention that we were going to up-hill route.
I would be more worried about hurricanes than anything this time of the year.

The possibility that this craigslist post is a troll is also a small concern. In the too-good-to-be-true department?

Well, not a phishing game. I just spoke with a Mike Dickerson, who's says he's in SD right now, sitting on the vessel in the Shelter Island boatyard. (619) 226-2500. He said he's gotten around 8 or 9 responses so far.
His timeframe is between this Friday the 9th and October, a fairly tight window to really get to know the boat.
I've never sailed anything this big, however.
And I forgot to ask about jacklines...more to come.

Already have plans
If I didn't already have plans for this fall/winter, I think I would be very tempted to jump on this, providing of course the boat was good to go and the deal was for real. But, I am leaving for they Yucatan/Belize around Nov. 1. So, a Hawaii trip is not in my future.
