For those of you that have replaced your standing rigging on your 31ft Hunter how much (and about what year) were parts and how much was labor? I'm currently pricing the two and would like to get as much info as possible before I pull the trigger.

Thanks!

Jared: Seco South is probably the cheapest and high quality. I am guessing that 1200 or so. The best way to do this is by removing the mast and doing the basic rig. Then reset the mast and complete the install.

They quoted me $2,115 plus shipping which seems high.

Yes, I will be dropping the mast and have already contacted Brion Toss for a quote to do the install and tune.

Thanks,

That does seem high. My friend with a 376 paid about $1600 a few years ago. Maybe the cost of stainless has gone up.

Maybe those diamonds take a lot more cable than they appear to.

Don't know if you will pull the mast. If you do, take the time to look it over closely and paint it if you have time. You haven't mentioned the chain-plates. If you have the U-Bolt back stay "chain-plates" like on my 33. I would recommend replacing them. The cost is little and these type of chain-plates are weaker then others that are not bent.

Yes, I will certainly be pulling the mast. I havent thought of painting it. That a corrosion resistance thing I'm assuming? Im sure a white mast would look pretty slick.

I do need to look at the chainplates and I've opened some threads on it. In a nut shell they are glass'd into the hull and you cant inspect them unless you unscrew them. I will probably do this. I was also thinking of reinforcing it by welding an angle bracket to it so more than the "threads" are taking the load. I need to contact Hunter and ask about this.

I will add the rear "chain-plate" replacement to the list. I do know what your talking about and it looks very straight forward. I'm not sure what grade stainless steel I'd need though.
