Poll to All.

How many of you have anchor windlass's, of any kind, and how many of
you out there do not have a windlass?
I want to do some cruising and want to know if a windlass is a wise
thing or just a luxury.

I don't have an anchor windlass, I have 3 anchors, one
mounted at the bow, the other 2 stored, and I've never had
any problems (maybe I'll think different as I get older-
but then- I'm already close to 80)

Hi Wilhelm,

What do you do with the chain / rope when you haul it all up? Does
it go into the bow via a hawse pipe or a bucket or etc?

Hi Robert,

the rope (200 feet(with markers every 25 feet)goes through
a hawse pipe into the boat- the chain (only 10 feet-is
wrapped around the anchor.
I have another 500 feet + another 200 feet rope in the rear
locker. The 2 other anchors are stored in my port locker.
Here in Florida I use always 2 anchors when staying over
night because of the thunderstorms. But for 'lunch', I only
use the one anchor from the bow.
