Hey gang, I'm getting ready to pull my 280 this coming weekend. This will be a first time I've hauled anything except a trailerable, so I'm a little nervous. There will be a couple of other guys at the marina that I can get to help, but I have a couple of questions. I think I have the winterization process figured out, with the exception of changing the engine oil. Is it better to change the engine oil when I pull the boat, or next spring when I launch it? Then, we have some work we'd like to do on the mast, so we'd like to pull it. However, I don't know how or where (other than inside the mast) the electrical wiring is connected. I'm thinking that when we lift the mast with the gin pole (just a few inches at first), there will be some type of "quick disconnect" coupling under it. Is this correct? Thanks for your help! Jim

Mast Wiring

There is a panel in the ceiling in the salon that goed around the compresion post. Pull it down and you will have access to the connectors for all mast wiring, including the VHF antenna lead.

Change your Oil Now

Change your oil and filter now before you pull the boat. You will need to warm the engine a little to suck the oil from the pan. Don't let dirty oil sit in the engine all winter. It's cheap insurance. Jeff
