So I'm planning a haul out for a bottom job soon and was thinking about what it says in the boats manual about disconnecting the shaft coupling from the transmission before being hauled out. The manual talks about flexing etc.

I was wondering what the thoughts of others were about this...

Do you do it?

Hey,

I have never done that and I haven't had any problems. My boat gets hauled each year and I have owned her since 2006.

I don't believe the yard that I use would ever disconnect the shaft to haul a boat.

I've never had it done as well. Just make sure there is a stand located just forward of where the shaft exits the hull to provide some support while she sits on the hard.

Thanks guys, that kind of reaffirms my thoughts. I grew up working on commercial boats and never recall anyone doing that.
