I posted this question on another forum. Didn't get any help so I thought I'd just throw this out there. I have a sliding plexiglass hatchway on my H26. I noticed that toward the bow there is a wooden strip that prevents the hatch from sliding all the way forward. This strip hangs down on the interior of the cabin This strip is attached with screws coming down from the top of the plexiglass. The wooden strip has warped on both ends but meets flush in the middle. I've tried siliconing the screw holes but am concerned about the space between the plexiglass and the wood on the ends. What can I do? I've siliconed outside and did the best I could inside. Water has come in through these openings and ruined the finish on my sole already. Need some advice. Thanks

Keep in mind that water could be coming into the deck via a nearby deck fitting and then migrating over to the screw holes in question, thereby making it LOOK like the water is beginning its ingress at that point. Water leaks are insidious.

Replace

I have the same wood under the sliding companionway and is fine and have the same wood on top also which I have removed to sand and stain and just used silicon in the screw holes when I replaced.
Can't you get a new piece of wood and make replace the old with new and better to fix the problem, use a good better wood like teak or some thing for in a boat.

I took mine off last winter to refinish it, and just one out of pine to use as a substitute while the original was being worked on....
