TroopsJust thought I would share this information for anyone who needs it and to get it into the archives. I just finished purchasing all new portlights and two new hatches for our 1982 Hunter 27. 'It wernt easy' but I did learn a few things. However, I take no responsibility for errors
. The hatches. The forward, trapezoidal shaped hatch is only available in aluminum now (molded plastic has been discontinued) but if you want it to be black, you can have them powder-coat it for some extra bucks. It comes standard with a smoked lens. The measurements are roughly 21x19x18 inches. A proper fit requires some grinding on one side, but I haven't gotten to that yet (see the archives). The part number (Bomar/Pompanette) is N2092-10a. My cost from ThriftyMariner was $295.00 plus tax and shipping. The aft, smaller rectangular hatch is available in molded plastic or in aluminum. The lens is smoked. The dimensions are roughly 12x17 inches and I am assuming that it is a good fit. The molded plastic hatch comes in black (does it come in white??). The part number for the black molded model is 927-1111 and it cost me about $150.00 at Sailnet. The part number for the aluminum model is 1029-10a and that ran about $170.00 at Sailnet. The portlights. The forward small portlights come in four flavors: white with smoked or clear lenses, and black with smoked or clear lenses. In addition, you can get the spigot or lense "angled" so that they protrude straight out if your cabin top is angled (or you just like the look?). They measure 5x12 and are referred to that way. The white with smoked lenses are the 512AD28, angled or straight. The other choices would be the 512AD27=white with clear lenses, the 512AD17=black with clear lenses, and the 512AD18=black with smoked lenses. They cost me about $90.00 each at Sailnet (but I had a coupon and stuff, so it was a bit less). The aft large portlights are set up the same way. They measure 7x15 and are the 715AD27, 715AD28, 715AD17, and 715AD18. I ordered the 715AD28 (white with smoked lenses, angled) at Sailnet on sale for $70.00 each.I considered stainless or brass replacements, but I was not too interested in a huge refit. We will likely not keep this boat long enough to make the metal portlights worthwhile. Although, after all this stuff, I wonder....Thanks to Jeff Towle at ThrifyMariner and John W. at SailNet for information and sales help. Haven't installed anything yet, just trying to set up the collection first before I create gaping holes in the boat during the summer rainy season here in Florida. Good luck,Ron
