I am looking to install gas strut supports on the large storage hatch cover in the cockpit of my Catalina 320. Has anyone seen any instructions or guidance on the subject?

Installing a standard hatch rod & bracket with a knurled knob to lock it into position would be the less expensive option. I replaced my forward hatch rod last year with one from Catalina Direct. I'm sure they sell gas type rods as well, but more expensive to buy.
