I am a new owner of an '81 Hunter 30. It appears the latch for the anchor well door is missing (replaced with a rope) and I can't seem to find a replacement. Does anyone have an idea. Also interested in finding what other owners do about the first step into the cockpit from the the ladder - it is a long way.

Ladder.

I can see your problem from the attached photo. Makes me wonder if my own H37C is original. It has a separate s/s step bolted to the transom about 10" above the last ladder step. Looks like one of those short stainless steel handrails that you see in WM. It does not interfere with the ladder folding flush. Don't know about your anchor locker hatch. Mine has one of those upside down 'U' handles that recesses. To secure it there is a piece of s/s bar that pivots, about 3/4" x 3".

Ladder

The ladder step is an idea that I have considered. Do you know where they can be obtained? The U shaped latch is exactly what I need, but do not have a clue where it can be bought - any thoughts?

Stainless Steel Parts.

Dennis: Contact TIQ (www.topsinquality.com) they are located in Michigan. They could provide both parts for you. You will need to make a sketch of the anchor locker bolt and forward it to them. I had taken a picture of mine from a H'31 and forwarded to another owner. He was quoted around $10-15. They also have some of these grab rails or can make you one. You could place it in between you ladder rungs when the ladder is in the UP position. Be sure to place some good reinforcing behind the transom with you bolt it on. Also use some Life Caulk to prevent water infiltration.

Ron, more pictures?

Sure would like to see how that platform looks when it is down Ron. I love the looks of the H37C from that angle. And I need pictures of your windlass installation since I just bought a horizontal like I think you have.
