Hello redhead78,

If your question is: "Can a replacement be done?" The answer is a qualified "yes". I have replaced the cabin top hatch glass (actually plastic) on each of the O'days we owned in the past. As I remember the process was not too difficult and only required hand tools and a source of the material you choose to put into the hatch. A painter's tool from the hardware store was a very useful tool for that job. It also came in handy for removing the ports and any deck fittings that we rebedded.

I went to a store named "The Plastic Place" in Fort Myers, FL. Unfortunately, they are no longer located there. The person I spoke to offered the attributes of either lexan or plexiglas. I think we chose lexan, but I'm not positive. Some of the other members will be able to clarify the difference for you.

Bedding the material required a choice of sealants based on the choice of plastic.

Best Wishes on a successful project.

I'd like to hear about supplier as well. I have another project boat I just recently acquired and all of the ports will need to be replaced.

Redhead-
I did a repair like this on my vberth hatch. I removed the hatch from the boat and took it to a fabricator in Duluth MN. They then cut a piece to fit and gave it to me to install. It was pretty easy. I used black caulk around the edge of it after it was installed on the boat. Be sure to tape before caulking. Contact acrylic sources in your area for a supplier.

Thanks guys, my old Jeanneau hatch glass are like green crazed, and barely let in light. Maybe they are supposed to be that way, but I really don't like them. The thread I just saw recently the author had pics of clear and smoked glass or plastic he had just done. I guess once I am done with the cover I will take one out and check out some of these options. Red

I replaced with Lexan all of the ports and hatches in my Beneteau Idylle 15.5. Used to be a charter boat and Windex was used. NEVER ! There were 6 opening hatches, 9 opening ports. I removed one of each type and the store cut and drilled as needed. Used clear silicone. Also never use 5200. I did the work in Trinidad so I can't help you with a supplier. Remove all of the old silicone and clean with acetone. Don't forget to tape off.
