Hatch gaskets

The forward hatch and lazarette hatches have high density rubber-like gaskets.

They appear to serve two purposes; one, to seal against water entry - the other, to cushion the lid from the hull flanges they're designed to rest on.

All three are in various stages of decay. They also appear to have been identical in form; that being: 1-1/4" wide x 1/2" thick.

Regular weather stripping can fit, but doesn't have the density to support the hatch properly IMO. Enter Home Depot SKU # 228154
Next time I'm near the HD, I'll scope this stuff out. On line, it looks perfect

But in-hand will tell. I'll keep you posted.

Any other suggestions out there?

Pep Boys has a trunk weather strip that is black rubber, perfect but about 34 bucks for 10 feet. I'm looking to replace mine too, just can't pull the trigger. Would cost over 100 bucks for all three.

Replaced mine with the correct gasket from Catalina direct didn't think it was expensive enough to try and make something else work.

Was an easy replacement fit perfectly and has lasted.

After scouring the website and trying a few search phrases, I found nothing close.

Might you have a link?

Thanks for the link.

Unfortunately, those won't work on my C-22. Wrong size, wrong style and the absence of self-stick has too many draw backs.

I believe if I had to do this one again, I would put the gasket on the lid side. With it on the rim, or edge whatever, every time I drag something out of the locker, anchor, etc, I end up tearing the gasket up a little by dragging stuff across it. Dead bodies are the worse..
