Hatch Board Strip

The strip of wood that holds up the floor hatch above a keel bolt at the bottom of the companionway has come loose. When I screwed it back up (new holes), it did not hold my weight (200#). Any suggestions?

If you post your make /model boat you will have better luck getting responses from owners of same or similiar boat, otherwise it is hard to visualize what the boat looks like , we are very filiar with our boats , hope this gets u some response /regards Mike Bacome
