I own a Hunter. 1977 27. With a Yanmar 8hp. The engine was completely over-hauled last year and has been running well. I have been recently getting a very brief jump of rpm, perhaps a secound or two and then back to normal. While underway. Has anyone had this problem? Any thoughts?

It sounds like a partial blockage somewhere in the fuel system causing it to surge. Change your filters (primary & secondary); check your fuel pick-up tube screen for impurities. And see what happens.
