Has anyone seen my S2 Ketch rigged boat?

Anyone know the where abouts of my S2 Ketch rigged boat?

Does anyone know the where abouts of my old S2 8.0c boat? My wife and I owned her for 17 years and primary used her for Catalina Island trips and day sailing. We sold the boat in 1997 and the boat was docked in Redondo Beach CA for a while after that. As far I can tell the boat was resold around 2009 and moved to another harbor. The boat is easy to identify as it is ketch rigged and has a fiberglass swimstep on the transom. We had plenty of years of good times on that boat and would like to know where she is today.
Thank you for looking.

No info but as an 8.0C owner I've been fascinated with this boat. Did you do the ketch rig modification? More info/photos of the swim step would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi Doug,

Like I said I owned this boat for 17 years. Here is a little history.
My wife and I finally secured a private mooring at Catalina Island after being on the waiting list for many years. The mooring was limited to a 27 foot boat so we we purchased the largest small boat we could find which was the S2 8.0C as we planned on spending many weeks each summer at Catalina.
After owning the boat for several years we decided to have the boat modified
for our personal usage. So I wrote a list of wants and took it to Capital Marine in Harbor City, CA. Capital Marine is the same company that manufactured Newport Boats, Gulf and Neptune at the time. They pretty much had the in house capacity to do major modifications to any boat. So we added six more windows in the hull for more light down below, new head with holding tank, larger helm wheel, all new spars, (ketch rigged),and new standing rigging. Also, we always took our dog to Catalina so a swim step was important for us to get the dog in and out of the dingy. Capital Marine fabricated a one off mold and added a nice size fiberglass swim step with folding SS ladder. They also beefed up the rudder post under the aft bunk in anticipation of a higher weather helm load due to the ketch rig. They did a beautiful job and the finished boat looked like it came from the S2 factory as a ketch. In 1997 we got a larger mooring at Catalina so we sold the boat and moved up to a 42 footer. I don't have any more photos of the swim step so I can not fill your request. Here are a few more photos that I do have.

Someone took this photo of my wife and I sailing the boat and placed on the net which I found with a Google search.

Mizzen mast SS bracket.

Wow, that's a gorgeous boat! I love the modifications done to it! Sorry I don't know anything about who owns it, but I have a question if you don't mind answering... My husband and I just bought a 1976 8.0c. I have a question about the head and holding tank. We only have Porti Potty in ours right now but want to put in a manual head. Did the 8.0 originally come with a holding tank from factory or is that something we would need to have installed? If so, where abouts is the best place to put the holding tank and how hard is it to do all of the plumbing?

Like yours, ours came with a porta potty. When we had our head converted to a real marine toilet they installed the holding tank under the aft stateroom hanging locker near the battery. If I recall correctly, the maximum tank size they could get in the compartment was 10 gallons. The boat has to be hauled so they can add a thru hull fitting for the toilet water intake. They also installed a pump out fitting on the deck plus a manual gusher type pump so tank could be emptied at sea. Any good boat yard probably can do the job. Good luck with that.

Thanks for the reply! My boat has a waste pump out on deck and two random hoses behind the porta potty that I have no idea where they go to. I think sometime in the past the boat may have head a marine toilet. I don't think it has a holding tank anywhere but i'll have to do some more looking around.
Did you happen to add extra windows as well? I love the modifications you did, it's really a beautiful boat! I hope you are able to find it!

Yes, we added three windows on each side to let more light in. Also, it was nice to be able to eat at the table and see outside view at the same time.
