I need to replace the ball valve but I read somewhere that loosening it can crack the volcano. What did you do to prevent it from breaking? What was the fix? Should I lay a little fiberglass around it before I take the valve off? Whaddayathink?
hello matt, fiberglassing before removal will not help. a threaded pipe has been fiberglassed in to the " volcano " and the valve has been screwed onto it. you have to hold the pipe to prevent it from tearing loose from the fiberglass when you try to unscrew the valve. of course you are not in the water when doing this. good luck, john
