Has anyone purchased from Boatersland.com?

I'm considering updating my outdated, unsupported and (partially) broken X5 Raymarine autopilot setup, and found a good option at Boatersland.com which is priced well under any competitor's. I'm wondering if they're a scam site or if folks have had good experiences purchasing from them? Some research online indicates folks have had both good and bad experiences with them, and I'm wondering how folks on SBO like them?

I have not done business with these folks nor do I intend to.

A quick search and looking at their website does not inspire confidence. They are/were located in Solon, Ohio and appear to be a division of or related to Campers Land, campersland.com. Campersland store is closed. The blog on the Boatersland.com website is really dated. The last blog entry is from 2014.

Not sure which AP you are looking at, the price for the EV-100 with P-70 control head is lower at Defender if you are a Def1st member and only $11 more if you are not. For that kind of short money I wouldn't take chances with BoatersLand.

Remember if something seems too good to be true, it is probably too good to be true.

If you see a strange price differential when comparing against the stores that are most commonly visited by sailors, be very careful that you compare all of the components that are included in the package. If the price is $50 lower than Defender, for instance, there is probably some part that is not included, I'd bet. Aside from that, the responses seem to indicate the store is sketchy. I rarely shop price for an expensive and important item. I always go with a trusted source and never go with an unknown.

I recently ordered and received Pettit Vivid bottom paint from Boaterland. Shipping was very quick and the all in price was less than Defender's. Smooth transaction.

I purchased a Lewmar V2 Windlass from Boatersland in 2013. Best price that I could find and quick shipment directly from Lewmar.
That was many years ago, don't know their rep now.

I used them several years ago, I don't recall having any problems. I just logged into my account with them to see what it was-- I bought some Faria gauges.

I've been sending people to boatersland.com for several years because their prices for marine toilets and plumbing equipment are almost always lower than any other retailer and they sometimes have something no other retailer has. In fact, I've sent at least 3 people to 'em in the last couple of months. No one has ever complained about them yet.

Thanks to all, very good input.
Some of the reviews I saw for boatersland.com were pretty bad, and though it seems there are also plenty of folks with good experiences, I'm just going to go with a company I already trust and not risk being another bad story. I didn't see Defender had it for $1475, much thanks @dlochner for that intuitive plug, it's exactly what I'm looking for, and well worth the additional $11 to have confidence in the purchase.

Never used them.
but their prices are pretty close to Defender.com…at least on Raymarine wheel pilot and S200 linear drive units.

i would call them.
