I want to install a larger permanent fuel tank and was wondering if anyone has advice on removing the top of the rear storage locker. My boat has wheel steering.

Me too

I have found out that I can get a fuel tank that fits pretty well into the area where I have the plastic one at the moment. I figure that the filler cap will be mounted just to one side of the steering post so it will mean simply pulling into the gas station and filling her up. The vent?? Probably located towards the top of the stern locker above the filler cap. Ruedi can you keep us posted with your progress on this one?

Fuel fill and vent locations...

Are shown in the owner's manual. The optional diesal includes a fuel tank mounted under the helm seat. If you lift the lid, you'll notice a molded in flange that the filler hose attaches to (port, aft of seat lip). Save some time and expense by simply using 6 gallon protable fuel tanks. Two should fit under there. I have a metal one that fits through the seat lid. Haven't tried the newer plastic ones... usually I just use a 3 gallon and only burn 5 gallons or so on a really busy season! For a long trip, a spare gas tank could be easily lashed on the swim ladder platform, too. Fair winds, Tom
