Has anyone installed limit switches on their ST1000 Tiller P

I replaced the plastic gears and belts on my ST1000 and I noticed that installing limit switches would not appear to be difficult. This would save wear and tear on the belts and gears, plus the sound that exceeding the limit makes is like drilling teeth without Novocaine.

If you have done this details would be nice.

im not sure what the difference is in the construction and assembly between the ST1000 and the 2000+ model is, but for those that do know, is this a modification that the st2000+ could benefit from, or does it have limit switches already in place?

I believe both were designed with thermal/overload protection only. A poor design IMO, but cheaper per unit, I'm sure. Roger's blog on the subject is excellent.

The 2000 "bottoms out" more or less the same way. Very unnerving..

Interesting mod. I only wish there was a close up of the top picture. I am trying to understand the purpose of the spring and how the module attaches to the moving part of the ST1000. I suppose if I take mine apart, it might be more clear.

You don't need to exactly follow his design, its the concept. I believe the spring centers the actuator rod. Look at the photo closely and you'll see. The black traveler pushes the rod that activites the switch. The spring returns the rod to center when the traveler returns, necessary because the traveler only pushes.
